Las Fallas for the easily overstimulated
About the project:
During the yearly celebrations of Las Fallas – one of Europe’s biggest street festivals – Valencia seems on steroids and streets are flooded with people, sounds and smells. In the midst of it all I find myself focusing on the details, trying to filter out the overwhelming expression of exuberance, searching for things that sooth my soul and senses. What I find are soft and silky biomaterials, true craftmanship and age-old rituals. And although I’ll probably never get enough of the collective excitement and curated explosions of a mascletá – interesting contradiction, isn’t it? – I more gratefully embrace silence wherever it wants to be found.
