About the project: While I’d normally avoid the screaming tastelessness of a fair I somehow got captivated by a spectacle of bright lights against a sunset-colored backdrop on a random December night.I stopped to observe the scene and to take in the vibrantly colored contraptions.What did I really think of this?Did I know the fair well enough to ignore it so rigidly when it demanded my attention so intensely?The curiosity that filtered through my rusted disgust finally made me decide to accept the invitation.Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Accompanied by a minimal amount – compared to Dutch fairs – of auditory noise I managed to open my eyes for all the shiny brightness. It was as if a vortex opened where a quest for the most calming aesthetic emerged. Calm aesthetics of a very flashy place.
